On November 14, 2009 the dialing plan for Connecticut changed to 10 digit LOCAL dialing.

Note: 10 Digit number includes the Area Code. (Ex: (XXX)-XXX-XXXX)

To Place an On-Campus call:

  1. Lift Handset
  2. Dial “6” or “7” + the four digit extension.

To place an Off-Campus call:

From Storrs or a regional campus:

  1. Lift Handset
  2. For Local calls: Dial “8” + 10 digit number
  3. For Long Distance calls: Dial “8” + 1 + 10 digit number

From Bethel, Haddam, North Haven, Norwich, or  Vernon*:

  1. Lift Handset
  2. For Local calls: Dial “9” + 10 digit number
  3. For Long Distance calls: Dial “9” + 1 + 10 digit number

From Brooklyn:

  1. Lift Handset
  2. For Local calls: Dial 10 digit number
  3. For Long Distance calls: Dial 1 + 10 digit number

  • To Place A Call On Hold:
    1.  Depress HOLD

  • To Retrieve Call on Hold:
    1. Depress Blinking Call Appearance

  • To Transfer A Call:
    1. Depress TRANSFER Button
    2. Listen for Dial Tone or manually select available Line Key
    3. Dial 5 digit UConn Extension Number (6-xxxx or 7-xxxx), Announce Call
    4. Depress TRANSFER and hang-up

  • Three Way Conference:
    1. Have Call In Progress
    2. Depress CONFERENCE Button
    3. Dial third party
    4. Depress CONFERENCE

  • Six Way Conference:
      Storrs :

    1. Lift Handset
    2. Dial 112
    3. Call first party, have call in progress
      To add more parties
    4. Depress CONFERENCE button, and dial next party
    5. Depress CONFERENCE again to join parties. Note: You may also activate this feature during a call by:

  • Conference Services: For additional conference services beyond the three-way and six way conference calling features provided by Telecommunications, please contact Verizon Business a 1-800-475-5000.
    • Identify yourself as a State of Connecticut employee.
    • Explain your request needs.
    • Obtain the information and contact Telecommunications at 6-4357 for an agency and authorization code.
    • Contact Verizon Business with this information and the telephone number you wish the services to be billed to.

    Note: Please schedule your conference call at least 24hours in advance. Also be aware that for all conference services except operator assisted, any conference with two (2) or less participants will prompt Verizon supervision after ninety (90) minutes to request meeting organizer to press *1 to retain conference bridge.
